New Balance has officially expanded its footwear lineup in Malaysia with the launch of the Ellipse, a daily trainer designed to shift the focus from performance metrics to the experience of the run itself. Available as of March 5, the Ellipse introduces a reimagined version of the brand’s signature cushioning, aimed at both novice runners and veterans seeking a comfortable recovery option.
In an industry increasingly dominated by connected scorecards and digital tracking, the Ellipse is marketed as a tool for “losing track of time.” The design emphasizes freedom and mindfulness, encouraging athletes to rediscover running as a personal experience rather than a data-driven chore.
Reimagined Cushioning and Geometry
The technical foundation of the Ellipse is the Fresh Foam X midsole. While a staple of the New Balance performance line, this iteration has been tuned to provide a bouncier underfoot feel. This is paired with a specific rockered profile, a geometry designed to assist the foot’s natural transition and reduce the physical strain of daily mileage.
To further enhance the “everyday” appeal, the shoe features a breathable engineered mesh upper, a cushioned tongue, and stretch laces. These elements contribute to a lightweight construction, with the men’s model (size 9.5D) weighing in at 274 grams and the women’s (size 7B) at 218 grams. The shoe maintains an 8mm drop with a substantial total stack height of 37.8mm in the heel, providing significant protection against road impact.
Cultural and Athletic Endorsement
The Ellipse has already gained traction among a diverse group of global ambassadors who bridge the gap between elite sport and lifestyle culture. This includes Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas and middle-distance champion Parker Valby, as well as figures like rapper and chef Action Bronson and NFL MVP Josh Allen.

The New Balance Ellipse is now available at official retail stores nationwide and on the New Balance Malaysia website. The suggested retail price is RM699. For those interested in a hands-on experience, the New Balance Run Hub at Suria KLCC is offering trial runs, allowing local athletes to test the reimagined Fresh Foam X cushioning before purchasing.
