SINGAPORE — Ultra-endurance athlete and adidas ambassador Natalie Dau has completed a record-breaking traverse of Peninsular Malaysia, covering 739.88 kilometers in 6 days, 16 hours, and 37 minutes. The performance sets a new Guinness World Record (pending official verification), surpassing her previous mark by 1 day, 8 hours, and 9 minutes.

Averaging a pace of 9:57/km, Natalie successfully beat her original “Break 8” goal by nearly 32 hours. The journey involved running an average of 105.70 kilometers per day—the equivalent of approximately 2.5 marathons daily—as she moved from the northern reaches of the peninsula to the southern border.

The Physical and Technical Demands of the Run
Throughout the seven-consecutive-day effort, Natalie spent a total of 122 hours and 46 minutes on the move. The route presented significant geographical challenges, including a peak climbing load on Day 6 that saw 2,421 meters of elevation gain. Day 4 served as the longest stage of the project, with Natalie covering 118.22 kilometers in a single push.

To manage the physical toll and the varied Malaysian terrain, Natalie utilized a rotation of five pairs of shoes from the adidas Adizero franchise, including the Adizero Adios Pro 4 and the Adizero Evo SL. Her support crew handled the complex logistics of navigation, fueling, and safety, allowing Natalie to focus exclusively on the demands of the road while adhering to strict Guinness World Record no-pacing rules.

Community Impact and Charitable Giving
Project 1000 functioned as a platform for social change as much as an athletic endeavor. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the project raised S$35,000 to date. These funds are designated for a Malaysia-based organization that supports displaced families, with specific initiatives focusing on women’s safety and the education of approximately 1,300 students.

“Breaking 8 pushed my body further than it has ever gone,” said Natalie Dau following her arrival at the Johor Bahru customs checkpoint. “Every message, every cheer, every runner who shared a few kilometers with me helped quiet the pain. That’s why this record feels like ours, not just mine.“
Regional Support and Legacy
The run was characterized by the “+1 Effect,” an adidas-led initiative highlighting the impact of positive community support. Approximately 125 runners—including members of the adidas Singapore community, corporate partners from Bolttech, and local Malaysian running groups—joined Natalie for various segments of the journey.
