SINGAPORE — Ultra-endurance athlete and adidas ambassador Natalie Dau is set to begin a grueling quest to rewrite the record books. Starting March 7, 2026, Natalie will attempt “Breaking 8,” a mission to run across Peninsular Malaysia in under eight days. To achieve this, she must complete a staggering average of 105 kilometres daily, nearly two and a half full marathons every 24 hours.

The project, titled Project 1000 (P1000), represents more than just a physical feat. By timing the run to coincide with International Women’s Day, Dau intends to use the 1,000-kilometre journey as a platform to support displaced families and women’s safety initiatives in Malaysia.
The Mechanics of Breaking 8
To secure a new Guinness World Record, Natalie’s schedule is calculated with mathematical precision. She will be on her feet for 15 to 16 hours a day, utilizing a structured run-walk rhythm—typically 30 minutes of running followed by a two-minute walk.

The logistical demands of the record attempt are equally intense. To satisfy Guinness World Record criteria, Natalie’s team must submit exhaustive evidence, including continuous GPX files from multiple watches, daily witness statements, and time-stamped video footage of every start and finish point. A strict “no-pacing” rule is also in effect, meaning no one is permitted to run in front of her; her support crew, led by coach Arthur Tong, will follow by bicycle or van.
Community and Gear Powered by Adidas
Central to the attempt is the “+1 Effect,” a philosophy championed by adidas that emphasizes the power of community support. While Natalie handles the physical exertion, her P1000 crew manages the intricate details of nutrition, hydration, and navigation.

Natalie Dau will be relying on a high-performance footwear rotation from the adidas Adizero franchise to sustain the 105km daily average:
- Adizero Adios Pro 4: Her primary race-day shoe, chosen for its cushioning and energy return.
- Adizero EVO SL: A lightweight trainer used for responsive efficiency during specific legs.
- Adilette Comfort 2.0 Slides: Vital for post-run recovery to allow her feet to decompress between stages.
A Route for the People
The route consists of a demanding loop around Peninsular Malaysia, culminating at the Johor Bahru (JB) customs checkpoint on March 14. The final celebratory leg will take place in Singapore on March 15, starting with a community run at The Westin Singapore where supporters can join Natalie for a final 5km or 10km stretch.

“If this run inspires even one person to take their first step, or helps create safer, more supportive spaces for women and girls to move and lead, then every kilometre has been worth it,” Natalie Dau stated regarding the project’s charitable mission.
