The Mixed Pro Doubles final served as a tactical masterclass, where Sewing and partner Casey Diamond dismantled the top-seeded duo of Megan Fudge and Richard Livornese Jr. to take the top spot. Sewing also found success in the Women’s Pro Doubles alongside partner Megan Fudge, defeating the pairing of Amanda Hendry and Katerina Stewart. In the Women’s Pro Singles, Sewing completed her sweep by overcoming Katerina Stewart in a high-intensity match that highlighted her dominance throughout the week.

Asian Excellence and Local Heroes

While U.S. professionals took several top spots, the Men’s Pro Singles final became a historic showcase for Asian talent. In an elite clash between Vietnam’s Phuc Huynh and Hong Kong’s Jack Wong (Hong Kit), Huynh utilized superior court coverage to secure the Gold Medal. Wong, the top-ranked player on the PPA Tour Asia, pushed the match to a thrilling limit, earning a Silver Medal that highlights the rising standard of play across the continent.

The Men’s Pro Doubles division was equally competitive, with the powerhouse duo of Jack Munro and Ryan Fu securing the gold medal after a thrilling battle against Tanner Tomassi and Richard Livornese Jr.

The home crowd at Subang found their heroes in the Malaysian duo of Sabrina Gee Zhen Hzui and Loh Shi Sheng. Entering the Pro Mixed Doubles bracket as the #38 seeds, the pair delivered the “upset of the tournament” by stunning the #6 seeds, Jack Foster and Amanda Hendry. This run marked the furthest advancement for any Malaysian in the professional category and was capped off by the duo winning a hard-fought Silver Medal in the DUPR 4.999 Mixed Doubles category.

A Legacy Beyond the Court

The standard of play we’ve seen demonstrates that the global era of pickleball has arrived and it is anchored right here in the region,” noted Mike Polisky, President of the APP United States. The event also successfully launched the CelcomDigi APP NEXT junior pathway, with selected Malaysian youth now set to train at the APP NEXT Academy in Florida, USA.
