The concept of endurance is traditionally measured by marathons or triathlons, yet a growing body of research and health data suggests that the daily physical and mental demands of motherhood and domestic life mirror the physiological strain of high-intensity training. Garmin Malaysia has launched the “Women of Endurance” initiative to examine this “invisible fatigue,” using a combination of artistic narrative and wearable data to quantify the sustained effort required in daily caregiving.
Psychological studies often indicate that while women report high levels of exhaustion, these feelings are frequently underestimated by external observers. The campaign aims to bridge this gap by illustrating how routine tasks—such as carrying heavy loads or managing household transitions—function as a form of sustained physical conditioning that demands significant resilience and adaptability.
Mapping the Physiology of Daily Life
To provide a visual context for these physical demands, the initiative features the work of Taiwanese artist Chouyi. Her illustrations translate abstract concepts of domestic labor into scenes that parallel athletic performance.

By mapping common activities to physiological responses, the campaign highlights how tasks like navigating stairs with a child or managing the constant movement of household maintenance can elevate heart rates to levels seen in HIIT sessions. These “slice-of-life” depictions serve as a reminder that the focus and stamina required for daily responsibilities are comparable to those found in structured sports environments.
Data as a Tool for Wellness Management
A central objective of the project is to provide women with objective tools to monitor energy depletion. Rather than relying on subjective feelings of tiredness, the use of wearable metrics—such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and stress tracking—allows for a more precise understanding of recovery needs.

The initiative outlines several technical markers that can help women manage their long-term health:
- Sleep Fragmentation: Identifying how frequent interruptions affect the body’s ability to recharge.
- Stress Trends: Monitoring sustained high-stress levels to determine when the body requires intervention.
- Physiological Fluctuations: Using HRV to track how menstrual cycles, impending illness, or inadequate rest affect overall readiness.
- Nutritional Awareness: Observing how dietary habits impact respiratory rates and energy stability.
By treating rest as an essential component of performance—similar to the recovery protocols used by professional athletes—women can better align their activity levels with their body’s actual capacity.
Community Wellness Event at PARC Subang
To encourage a more structured approach to physical well-being, a community wellness day titled “Women of Endurance – Here’s to Her” is scheduled for 24 May 2026. Held at PARC, Subang, the event focuses on movement and education for women and their families.

The program includes three distinct sessions designed for different interests:
- A beginner-friendly 2KM walk or run.
- A Mat Pilates session designed for both mothers and children.
- A process-oriented painting workshop.

Information regarding registration and session availability will be released through official Garmin Malaysia Instagram page. The event serves as a practical extension of the campaign’s goal: bringing hidden physical strain into the light so that more informed recovery can begin.
