The rapid ascent of pickleball in Malaysia is reaching new heights as the AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship returns for its second edition. Scheduled to take place from June 19 to 21, 2026, the tournament is set to bring a significant upgrade in both scale and rewards, reflecting the sport’s transition from a casual hobby into a serious competitive discipline.
Staged at the PLAYA Racquet Club at PARC Subang, this year’s championship aims to attract 600 participants, a notable increase from the 500 players who joined the inaugural event. This growth is matched by a boosted prize pool, which has been raised to RM66,000 from the previous RM50,000, signaling a clear intent to elevate the standard of play and attract the best talent in the region.
A Structured Path to Competitive Excellence
Organized by Score Sports Management (SCORE) and powered by title sponsor AmBank Group, the championship is designed to offer a professional and structured experience for players. The three-day event will feature categories for Novice, Intermediate, and Open levels, covering men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

The tournament format includes a group stage followed by knockout rounds, a structure that ensures participants receive meaningful match exposure. The Open category is particularly anticipated to showcase the growing depth of Malaysian pickleball talent, as more athletes move away from recreational play and toward high-level competition. Patricia Tan, CEO of Score Sports Management, emphasized that the goal is to create a platform where players can compete seriously while ensuring the sport remains inclusive and accessible to all.
Community and Holistic Wellness
Beyond the matches on the court, the 2026 edition is expanding its scope to include a broader wellness experience. Through collaborations with Together-Gather and TogetHER, the event will feature various fitness sessions, wellness workshops, and health-focused vendors. This holistic approach aims to turn the tournament into a community hub that celebrates an active and healthy lifestyle.

AmBank Group’s continued support highlights its dedication to community engagement. Shazman Shahid, Head of Group Corporate Communications and Marketing at AmBank Group, noted that the event provides an opportunity for the public to experience the high energy of pickleball while contributing to the sport’s local development.
Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility
In a move toward more responsible event management, the organizers have incorporated several sustainability initiatives. The tournament trophies are produced in collaboration with Natureloop, utilizing recycled plastic and repurposed timber. Additionally, participants and fans can look forward to pickleball-themed charms crafted from reused materials, aligning the sporting event with modern environmental values.
