LTdL 2024 Stage 5: De Kleijn Strikes Again

Ayer Keroh, Melaka, October 3, 2024 – Tudor Pro Cycling Team’s Arvid de Kleijn continued his impressive performance at the PETRONAS Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2024, securing his second stage victory in Stage 5. The Dutch sprinter showcased his explosive speed, outpacing his rivals in the final 100 meters to claim the stage.

The 167.3-kilometer stage from the PETRONAS Twin Towers (KLCC) to the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) proved to be a challenging one, with a mix of flat terrain and rolling hills. De Kleijn’s victory solidified his position as one of the top sprinters in the race, and his ability to win consecutive stages demonstrated his exceptional form.

JCL Team UKYO’s Matteo Malucelli and Kazakhstan Astana Team’s Gleb Syritsa finished second and third, respectively, in the stage. Malaysian rider Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli from Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) was the best local performer, finishing in 21st place.

With this victory, de Kleijn matched his achievement from last year’s edition, where he also won two stages. The 30-year-old Dutch rider now has the opportunity to add more wins to his career in this prestigious Asian cycling event with three stages remaining.

Meanwhile, David Max Poole from Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL retained the Green Jersey as the overall leader. The 21-year-old climbing specialist from Great Britain faces a close challenge from Burgos-BH’s Jose Manuel Diaz Galledo, with only 0.12 seconds separating them.

Other key jersey holders include Munoz Mario Aparicio of Burgos-BH, who retained the Polka Dot Jersey for King of the Mountains, and Malucelli, who maintained the Orange Jersey as the Sprint King.

In the overall team standings, Equipo Kern Pharma remains dominant, followed by Astana Qazaqstan Team and Team Polti Kometa. JCL Team UKYO leads the Asian category.

Stage 6 on Friday will start from Batu Pahat to Kulai, covering a distance of 123.4 kilometers. The stage is expected to offer new challenges, especially for sprinters, with three sprint zones.
