KUALA LUMPUR – StarCruises, under the StarDream Cruises brand, has announced a tactical partnership with global performance brand Under Armour to launch “Fitness @ Sea,” a specialized active-lifestyle program. The four-night voyage, scheduled for January 19 to 23, 2026, will take place aboard the Star Voyager, sailing a roundtrip route from Port Klang to Phuket and Singapore.
The initiative marks an increasing intersection between the hospitality and sports performance sectors, targeting a growing demographic of travellers who prioritize physical maintenance during leisure periods. The program is part of Star Voyager’s current limited-term deployment at Port Klang, which runs through February 2, 2026, offering a unique opportunity for local fitness enthusiasts to engage with professional-grade training in an unconventional setting.
Integrated Performance Programming
The “Fitness @ Sea” itinerary is built around a curriculum curated by Under Armour-certified trainers. The programming is designed to offer a variety of physical disciplines that cater to different fitness levels while utilizing the unique environment of a maritime setting. These sessions are intended to challenge traditional training boundaries, moving away from the static gym environment and into a dynamic, mobile arena.

The training schedule includes several high-intensity and recovery-focused modules:
- Animal Flow: A ground-based movement program designed to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination. This discipline has gained significant traction in the professional sports community for its ability to enhance body awareness and functional mobility through quadrupedal movements.
- Beast Mode Functional Training: These high-intensity sessions focus on compound, functional movements and performance challenges. This module is aimed at participants looking to test their cardiovascular limits and muscular endurance through varied, high-octane exercises.
- Serenity Pilates: A core-stability and flexibility-focused discipline intended to balance the higher-intensity sessions. In a performance context, this is a critical component for injury prevention and postural alignment, providing a restorative contrast to the “Beast Mode” challenges.
According to the organizers, these activities are available to all passengers on a first-come, first-served basis, with sign-ups occurring upon embarkation. The collaboration also includes performance-based incentives, where participants who complete the full series of sessions are eligible for Under Armour merchandise, adding a competitive element to the voyage.
Strategic Industry Alignment
This partnership highlights a shift in the cruising industry toward niche, activity-driven itineraries. As global wellness trends continue to influence travel patterns, cruise lines are increasingly seeking out performance brands to provide professional-grade athletic experiences.

Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, noted that the collaboration reflects the evolution of cruising beyond traditional vacation models. By integrating a global performance brand, the cruise line aims to provide a structured environment for guests to maintain training cycles while at sea. This allows athletes to continue their progress without the common disruption of a holiday schedule.

From the perspective of the performance brand, the initiative serves as an extension of the training environment. Samantha Lim, Commercial Director of Under Armour Malaysia, stated that the brand’s philosophy centers on the idea that performance is a mindset independent of location. The partnership is viewed as a way to inspire athletes to “train differently” by utilizing the deck of a ship as a functional training space, encouraging movement with purpose across all environments.
Local Deployment Context
The “Fitness @ Sea” event is a central feature of the Star Voyager’s current seasonal homeporting in Malaysia. Between December 19, 2025, and February 2, 2026, the vessel is stationed at Port Klang, facilitating easier access for the Malaysian sporting community to participate in international-standard events without the need for air travel.

The deployment includes weekly departures, with the four-night Phuket/Singapore route serving as the primary platform for the Under Armour collaboration. For local athletes and fitness communities, this provides a logistical advantage, as the starting point is just a short journey from Kuala Lumpur. This accessibility is key to the program’s objective of integrating high-level fitness into a four-day regional journey.
