Mongolian Star Sainbayar Leads Burgos BH Charge at LTdL 2024

Mongolian Star Sainbayar Returns to LTdL with Burgos BH

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Spanish professional cycling outfit, Burgos BH, has announced their team for the upcoming 2024 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), with Mongolian rider Jambaljamts Sainbayar spearheading their challenge.

Sainbayar is a familiar face to Malaysian fans, having raced with the Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) from 2021 to 2023. During his time there, he established himself as a force to be reckoned with, claiming the prestigious white jersey for the Best Asian Rider at LTdL 2022 and clinching the yellow jersey victory at the Tour of Thailand 2021.

The 27-year-old recently competed at the Paris Olympics, finishing a respectable 57th in the road race and 28th in the individual time trial. Since then, he has parted ways with TSG and signed a one-year contract with Burgos BH, marking a significant step in his career as he seeks to compete at the highest level in Europe.

Spanish team aims to capitalize on Asian success at LTdL

Burgos BH is no stranger to success in Asia, having already secured several victories in regional races like the Tour of Qinghai Lake (2.Pro) and the Tour of Sharjah. Their ambitions in Asia are clear, and with Sainbayar’s familiarity with Malaysian racing conditions, they aim to make a strong statement at LTdL.

Joining Sainbayar in the Burgos BH line-up is a well-rounded team with a mix of experience and talent. Antonio Eric Fagundez (Uruguay), Mario Aparicio (Spain), and Ander Okamika (Spain) bring balance to the squad, capable of tackling the General Classification challenges. Additionally, Clement Alleno (France) and Georgios Bouglas (Greece) complete the impressive six-man roster.

Burgos BH has a history of success at LTdL, having secured a stage win in 2022 through Alex Molenaar. This year, they face stiff competition from a strong field that includes three World Teams – EF Education Easypost (USA), Astana Qazaqstan Team (Kazakhstan), and DMS Firminich PostNL (Netherlands) – alongside 19 other teams.

This year’s route sees a welcome return of Langkawi Island, while also venturing into uncharted territory with two stages taking place in the cities of Miri and Bintulu in Sarawak.

With a star rider like Sainbayar leading the charge and a strong supporting cast, Burgos BH is poised to be a major contender at the upcoming Le Tour de Langkawi. Cycling enthusiasts across Malaysia and the region can look forward to an exciting race filled with drama, strategy, and exhilarating competition.
