Ultramarathoner Natalie Dau Attempts Record-Breaking 1,000km Charity Run from Thailand to Singapore

Singapore-based ultramarathoner Natalie Dau is embarking on an ambitious 1,000km run from Hat Yai, Thailand, to Singapore, aiming to set a new record and raise funds for underprivileged women and girls.

Dau, a 10-time ultramarathon winner, will begin her journey on May 25th, traversing through Thailand and Malaysia before reaching the finish line in Singapore on June 5th, coinciding with Global Running Day. The grueling feat will see her run the equivalent of two marathons (84.4km) daily for 12 days.

Beyond the sheer distance, Dau has her sights set on two records: the fastest crossing of Peninsular Malaysia on foot and the fastest 1,000km Thailand-Singapore ultramarathon. The Singapore Book of Records will be present to officially verify her finishing time.

Project 1000, as the run is called, is not just about pushing physical limits. Dau also aims to raise awareness about the gender gap in exercise and the challenges women face in prioritizing physical activity. Funds raised will be directed towards GRLS, a global charity that empowers women and girls through sports and exercise.

“Project 1000 demonstrates a constant push towards optimal performance, while bringing awareness to a cause that I feel passionately about,” Dau said. “I believe that everyone should have access to exercise and experience the joy of movement.”

Dau hopes to inspire others to embrace an active lifestyle and overcome limitations. Fans can follow her journey and support the cause through her website (www.nataliedau.com) and social media channels (@rockstararms on Instagram and Facebook).
