The Curve Announces Merdeka Food Run 2025: A Culinary 5KM Celebration of Fitness and Malaysian Flavours

PETALING JAYA, Malaysia – The Curve shopping mall is set to host the Curve Merdeka Food Run 2025 on August 30, 2025, bringing back its unique 5KM event that blends physical activity with a celebration of Malaysian culinary heritage. Following a successful inaugural run last year, this year’s edition aims for increased participation and an enhanced experience.

Building on the 2024 event, which saw 1,500 participants, the Curve Merdeka Food Run 2025 is expected to attract up to 3,000 runners, encompassing families, fitness enthusiasts, and food lovers. The run will commence at 7:30 AM from the Piazza at The Curve. A distinctive feature of the event is the inclusion of food pit stops along the 5KM route, offering participants a variety of popular local delicacies such as nasi lemak, curry puffs, and satay.

The event is designed to underscore The Curve’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles while simultaneously celebrating Malaysia’s cultural pride and fostering community connection. It is positioned as more than just a race, but rather a journey through the nation’s vibrant culinary traditions, aiming to unite participants through shared tastes and experiences.

En Jazmi Kamarudin, Chief Operations Officer of Boustead Properties Berhad, expressed enthusiasm for the run’s return. “We are thrilled to bring back the Curve Merdeka Food Run in 2025 with even more excitement and energy,” said Kamarudin. He highlighted the strong bond Malaysians share over food and suggested that the event provides an ideal way to celebrate Merdeka by uniting people through the national passions of food and togetherness. Kamarudin added that the run perfectly reflects Boustead Properties’ goal of creating shared experiences that honor Malaysian culture, promote wellness, and build strong community bonds.

In alignment with the spirit of Merdeka, the run is open to all, from seasoned runners to families, colleagues, and casual participants. Registrations are currently open until August 3, 2025. Discounted rates are available for groups of four, and corporate packages are also offered, catering to companies interested in team-building activities and employee wellness initiatives.

Participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes through a Lucky Draw at the conclusion of the event, with a total prize pool valued at RM10,000. This adds an element of excitement to the morning of fitness and culinary enjoyment.

The Curve Merdeka Food Run 2025 is an integral part of the mall’s broader Merdeka Campaign, which will span the entire month of August. This campaign is structured around themes of health, heritage, and harmony, and will include a range of festive activities, cultural showcases, and community engagements. These month-long celebrations are designed to commemorate Malaysia’s independence and its rich multicultural legacy.
