Sunway City Kuala Lumpur – Over 10,000 enthusiastic runners laced up their shoes for a good cause at the Sunway-Rapid KL Good Run 2024, another initiative celebrating Sunway Group’s 50th anniversary. Held on Southeast Asia’s first elevated Bus Rapid Transit lanes, the event raised a significant amount – RM430,000 – to benefit five Malaysian charities: UNICEF, Generating Opportunities for the Learning Disabled (GOLD), National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Women of Will (WOW), and Rumah Perlindungan Darul Ukhwah.

The race, flagged off by prominent figures including YB Michelle Ng (Subang Jaya state assembly person) and Sunway Group executives, offered three categories: a challenging 21.1km half-marathon, a 10km run, and a more accessible 5km option. It wasn’t just about competition, though. A vibrant race village at Sunway Geo Avenue provided entertainment and education for participants and spectators alike, with booths from Sunway Theme Parks, Sunway Healthcare Group, Sunway Property, UNICEF, Rapid KL, and more.
Sunway Healthcare Group, a key partner, emphasized the importance of the run in promoting a healthy lifestyle and community engagement. “We need to emphasise the importance of a healthy lifestyle more than ever,” said Dato’ Lau Beng Long, President of Sunway Healthcare Group. The proceeds, he added, will directly support those in need.

Rapid Bus, another partner, echoed this sentiment. Encik Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, CEO of Rapid Bus, stated their pride in collaborating with Sunway Group to promote healthy living and strengthen community connections.

This successful event is just one aspect of Sunway’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility under their #SunwayforGood initiative. Looking ahead, they have a series of planned activities, including a Meal Pack-a-thon with Rise Against Hunger to provide meals for underprivileged communities and continued collaboration with organizations like the Malaysian AIDS Foundation to address critical social issues.
