Singapore – Acclaimed ultramarathoner and Guinness World Record holder Natalie Dau is set to embark on her second Project 1000, less than a year after her historic 1000km solo run from Thailand to Singapore. This time, the 52-year-old endurance athlete will traverse Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines, as part of her ongoing mission to inspire others, champion gender equality, and promote physical fitness.
Natalie’s new challenge will begin on April 21, 2025, in San Vicente. Over 12 days, she will run the equivalent of two full marathons (42.2 km each) daily, covering a total of 1000 kilometers along Luzon’s west coast and through the bustling city of Manila. The run, organized in collaboration with the Philippines Department of Tourism, will conclude on May 2. This ambitious journey highlights Natalie’s unwavering determination to show that age is no barrier to chasing dreams and making a difference.
Empowering Girls and Communities Through Movement
At the core of Natalie’s mission is a deep commitment to empowering girls and women through movement, self-confidence, and body positivity. Her 2025 run will include a fully all-female support crew, reflecting her dedication to inspiring young girls to recognize their potential.
“I’m thrilled to be kicking off a second round of the Project 1000 challenge,” says Natalie. “As I set my sights on a new course to run, I truly hope that we can inspire more people to challenge themselves in a positive way. Bringing awareness to issues facing girls and women around the world and the importance of physical activity is a cause that is so close to my heart and it continues to fuel my motivation.”
Raising Funds for Meaningful Causes
Natalie’s run will once again focus on raising funds for charities that empower women and children. Key beneficiaries include the Save the Children Girls Impact Fund, which champions gender equality and children’s rights, and locally-based organizations in the Philippines. Natalie and her team plan to visit schools, orphanages, and shelters along the route to provide scholarships and aid to underserved communities.
Lisa Aubrey, Director of Regional Fundraising at Save the Children UK, praised Natalie’s efforts: “The money raised from Natalie’s extraordinary fundraising challenge will allow Save the Children to drive forward children’s rights and gender equality. By listening to girls about the challenges they face every day, we can work with them to make sure their needs are heard.”
