Seremban, Negeri Sembilan: Leading property developer IJM Land marked a significant milestone as the 10th edition of the IJM Land Half Marathon concluded with a record-breaking turnout and a vibrant atmosphere at Dataran Centrio, Seremban 2. Themed “10 Years of Miles, 10 Years of Memories,” the 2024 edition celebrated a decade of promoting fitness, fostering camaraderie, and engaging the community.
Record-Breaking Participation and Community Spirit
This year’s highly anticipated marathon attracted a staggering 12,000 participants, perfectly reflecting its tagline “Run Together, Bond Stronger.” The event was graced by distinguished guests including Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin Bin Haji Harun, Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan, and Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Haji Masri Bin Haji Razali, Datuk Bandar, Majlis Bandaraya Seremban. IJM Land’s management representatives, including Yang Berbahagia Datuk Tony Ling Thou Lung, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Chai Kian Soon, Senior General Manager, were also present.
“IJM Land Half Marathon has grown into a prominent annual event,” said Mr. Chai Kian Soon. “We are incredibly proud to celebrate a decade of this successful event that reinforces our commitment to health and community.” He further expressed gratitude to the community and passionate runners, acknowledging their dedication as the key to reaching this 10th year milestone.
A Race for All and a Platform for Giving
The IJM Land Half Marathon 2024 offered a variety of categories for diverse participant levels, including the 21KM Half Marathon, 12KM races, and a 5KM Fun Run. Beyond competitive spirit, the event served as a platform for philanthropy. A total of RM42,500 was donated to various worthy causes, including RM30,000 to Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA), and an additional RM12,500 to Pertubuhan Artritis Negeri Sembilan (PANS).
Festive Atmosphere and Sustainability Efforts
The event went beyond the race, creating a vibrant carnival atmosphere with balloon clowns, face painting, and free treats like popcorn, ice cream, and refreshing drinks. Interactive games like a simulated F1 car race and ping pong shoot added to the fun, ensuring a day of entertainment for participants and families.
IJM Land emphasized environmental sustainability through effective waste management and promoting green practices.
Focus on Youth and Community Partnership
Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, a special “STUDENTS RUN TOGETHER” contest garnered an enthusiastic response from schools across Negeri Sembilan. Cash prizes were awarded to schools with the highest participation rate and most participants. Additionally, IJM Land presented a symbolic cheque of RM50,000 to Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin Bin Haji Harun, further solidifying their role as a strategic partner in the Program Anjuran Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan.
