Ipoh, Perak – The 2024 MOE-MSSM-MILO championship, which concluded recently, has once again showcased the exceptional talent of Malaysia’s young athletes. With a total of 18 new records set in athletics alone, this year’s event has proven to be a platform for future champions.

A Legacy of Sports Development

MILO, a long-time supporter of Malaysian sports, has been instrumental in nurturing young talent for over 60 years. By partnering with the Ministry of Education and the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM), MILO has played a pivotal role in promoting grassroots sports and fostering a culture of excellence.

This year’s championship saw over 12,900 student-athletes from 16 contingents compete across 24 sports. From the initial cross-country event in Putrajaya to the final athletics showdown in Ipoh, the competition was fierce and inspiring.

Lim Kerwin, Head of Sports Marketing of MILO® Malaysia, emphasized that MSSM is more than just a sporting event. It’s an opportunity for young athletes to develop valuable life skills, such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

Sabah emerged as the overall champions in athletics, while Penang’s Muhammad Sayyid Amin Roslan broke the U-18 200m record twice, setting a new standard of 20.94 seconds.

Many of Malaysia’s top athletes, including the renowned bowler Rafiq Ismail, credit MSSM for laying the foundation for their success. Ismail highlighted the importance of hard work and dedication, emphasizing that there are no shortcuts to achieving greatness.
