AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025

AmBank Pickleball Championship Sets New Standard with ESG Focus & Youth Empowerment

KUALA LUMPUR – The inaugural AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025 concluded on Sunday, June 1st, at Pickle Nation, marking a significant event that redefined the scope of sporting championships in Malaysia. Presented by AmBank as part of its 50th-anniversary celebration and conceptualized by Score Sports Management, this DUPR-recognized tournament brought together 547 players, including international participants from Indonesia, China, and the USA, under the banner of purpose-driven and planet-conscious sport.

The championship, themed “Malaysia Kita,” received official recognition from YBhg. Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. His attendance underscored the Ministry’s commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and sustainable sporting initiatives across Malaysia.

A key highlight was the dedicated Junior Coaching Session, which saw 75 enthusiastic youths participate, 35 of whom were sponsored by AmBank Group and Score Sports Management. Led by experienced pickleball coaches, the session introduced young talents to the sport’s fundamentals through fun drills, mini-matches, and interactive learning, fostering confidence, sportsmanship, and connection among the next generation of Malaysian athletes.

Beyond the courts, the championship demonstrated a strong commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. All event materials were thoughtfully curated with sustainability in mind, including a focus on reducing single-use plastics through refillable water stations. A notable initiative saw 60 kilograms of old sneakers collected for recycling and repurposing into community infrastructure like running tracks, playgrounds, and court surfaces across Malaysia. The event also leveraged a nationwide social media campaign, the “AmBank 50th Pickleball Relay Challenge,” to engage Malaysians virtually and showcase their passion for pickleball.

I’m incredibly pleased with the success of the AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025. It’s heartening to see not only the strong participation from Malaysians, but also players from overseas,” said Patricia Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Score Sports Management. “The turnout, the energy, and the sportsmanship on display were simply outstanding. We’re proud to add the Malaysia Pickleball Championship to our flagship events, and with the continued support of the community, we look forward to growing it even further.

Shazman Shahid, Head of Group Corporate Communications & Marketing, AmBank Group, added, “This championship was a celebration of everything we believe in — health, inclusion, unity, and purpose. We are proud to present a tournament that not only energised communities but empowered positive choices on and off the court.
