Putrajaya, Malaysia roared back to life as the 19th edition of POWERMAN Malaysia, the world’s biggest duathlon, took center stage. Over 4,000 elite and amateur duathletes from across the globe converged on the capital city, battling it out in the thrilling run-bike-run format across multiple distances.

This year’s race boasted a record-breaking international presence, with competitors from over 30 countries vying for the coveted title. The event offered a Classic distance (10km run, 60km bike, 10km run) and a Short distance (5km run, 30km bike, 5km run), catering to both seasoned athletes and newcomers. It wasn’t just for adults either, with 3 exciting POWERKIDS categories allowing youngsters between the ages of 6 and 15 to experience the thrill of the sport. The spirit of inclusivity shone through as well, with 20 inspiring children with physical disabilities and special needs participating and receiving thunderous cheers from the crowd.

Distinguished guests like YB Hannah Yeoh, Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, and Emily Lek, Vice President of JAECOO Malaysia, flagged off the various categories. John Leerams Chicano from the Philippines and Rendy Williams from the United States emerged victorious in the Elite male and female categories respectively, clocking in times of 2:41:48 and 3:09:34. Local athletes also had a strong showing, with Malaysians Esther Joy Hong Li Chen, Muhammad Rabani Bin Hashim, and Nazri Muhamad achieving podium finishes.
Jeffrey Ross, the General Manager and Race Director of POWERMAN Malaysia, expressed his delight at the success of the event, especially with JAECOO’s involvement as presenting partner. “This year was truly special,” he said. “We’re proud to have collaborated with JAECOO, a brand that embodies the same spirit of ambition and perseverance as our athletes.”

Emily Lek, Vice President of JAECOO Malaysia, echoed this sentiment. “JAECOO thrives on pushing boundaries, just like the participants in this event,” she explained. “We were honored to be a part of POWERMAN Malaysia and showcase the JAECOO J7 SUV, a perfect companion for those with active lifestyles.” The JAECOO J7 wasn’t just on display; it served as the race starter vehicle, adding to the overall experience.

But POWERMAN Malaysia 2024 by JAECOO wasn’t just about competition. A bustling three-day expo featuring over 50 exhibitors like Kahf, 100PLUS, Shimano, PURPOSE Performance Wear, Therabody, and Garmin offered a treasure trove of products and brands for the enthusiastic running and cycling communities.
