KUALA LUMPUR – Garmin Malaysia has officially expanded its flagship tactical wearable lineup with the introduction of the tactix 8 – Cerakote Edition. This premium smartwatch is designed specifically for tactical professionals and outdoor enthusiasts who require a device capable of withstanding the most extreme field conditions while maintaining a refined, rugged aesthetic.

The standout feature of this new edition is its specialized Cerakote finish—a ceramic-polymer composite coating renowned in the defense and aerospace industries for its exceptional resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemical exposure. Unlike standard finishes, the Cerakote layer is sprayed onto the 51mm titanium bezel and case, then baked to cure, ensuring a bond that is as durable as it is visually striking. Available in two military-inspired tones—Slate Gray and Olive Drab—the finish is designed to age gracefully, developing a unique character as it endures the rigors of use.
Tactical Hardware for the Modern Mission
The tactix 8 – Cerakote Edition is built upon a foundation of high-performance hardware. It features a brilliant 1.4-inch AMOLED display that remains visible under intense sunlight, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. For low-light operations, the watch includes a built-in multi-LED flashlight with white and green light options; in Night Vision Goggle (NVG) mode, the white light is disabled and the green beam becomes dimmable to prevent detection.

Battery performance remains a primary focus for Garmin’s tactical series. The Cerakote Edition offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, ensuring that users can remain in the field for extended periods without the need for frequent charging.

Specialized Software and Navigation Suites
To support its “purpose-built” claim, Garmin has integrated a suite of specialized tactical tools:
- Applied Ballistics Ultralight: A preloaded solver that provides aiming solutions for long-range marksmanship directly on the wrist.
- Stealth Mode: This feature allows the watch to remain operational while stopping all GPS location storage and sharing, as well as disabling all wireless connectivity.
- Jumpmaster Activity: Designed for airborne operations, this tool supports three jump types: HAHO, HALO, and Static, helping users navigate to their drop zone.
- Dual-Position GPS: Users can view two sets of coordinate systems, such as MGRS and latitude/longitude, on a single screen for better interoperability with team members.

Beyond tactical utility, the watch is a capable multi-sport and marine tool. It boasts a 40-meter dive rating, supporting both scuba and apnea diving activities. For navigation, it features preloaded TopoActive maps, a global aeronautical database for “Direct-to” navigation to airports, and multi-band GPS with SatIQ technology for superior positioning accuracy in challenging environments.
Connectivity and Daily Utility
Despite its military-grade build, the tactix 8 – Cerakote Edition serves as a comprehensive daily smartwatch. When paired with a smartphone, users can make and receive phone calls via the built-in speaker and microphone. It also features Garmin’s full suite of health monitoring tools, including Body Battery energy monitoring, Pulse Ox, and advanced sleep detection. For everyday convenience, Garmin Pay enables contactless payments at participating retailers across Malaysia.
