Garmin Run Asia Series Malaysia Empowers 13,000 Runners in ‘From Zero to Hero’ Celebration

PUTRAJAYA – The Garmin Run Asia Series 2025 – Malaysia concluded with a massive turnout of over 13,000 passionate runners at Dataran Putrajaya. In its fourth consecutive year, the race upheld its signature theme, ‘From Zero to Hero,’ serving as a powerful platform for runners to celebrate personal progress and take charge of their health and fitness journeys.

Following a record-breaking 2024, the Garmin Run Asia Series expanded this year to ten destinations across Asia, uniting a growing community of runners under a shared goal of moving with purpose.

Garmin Run Asia Series has become more than just a race, it’s a celebration of growth, every runner’s determination to take charge of their health and strengthening the local running community,” shared Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia. “It is wonderful to witness the community stand together to help one another reach the finish line. The ‘From Zero to Hero’ spirit lives within each participant who shows up, and Garmin is proud to support their journey.

Elite Presence and Competitive Excellence

The event featured three main competitive categories: 21KM, 10KM, and a 5KM Fun Run, which were launched following a high-energy warm-up session led by official gym partner, Fitness First.

The competitive fields were highly motivating, drawing the presence of several elite local runners, including two-time SEA Games medalist Muhaizar Mohamad and Yeow Ni Jia, who will represent Malaysia at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

Garmin athlete Ni Jia Yeow claimed the champion title in the 21KM Men’s Open category with a local personal best time of 01:14:24, improving from his third-place finish in 2024. In the 21KM Men’s Veteran category, two-time SEA Games medalist Muhaizar Mohamad secured the top spot with a time of 01:20:12. For the women’s half marathon, Chi-Wen Hung led the 21KM Women’s Open with a time of 01:27:57, while Tiffany Lee Siok Chin was the champion of the 21KM Women’s Veteran race, clocking 01:34:05. In the 10KM Open categories, Ruveshwaran Balachandran (00:34:42) and Nurul Juliana Shakira Abdul Halim (00:43:13) took the men’s and women’s titles, respectively.

Winners across all categories received prizes worth over RM192,000 in cash and kind, including Garmin running watches, aminoVITAL® products, and Shokz audio gear.

Nationwide Community Growth

This year marked significant growth for the Garmin Run Club Malaysia community, which expanded its reach beyond the Klang Valley to establish weekly training sessions in Johor, Penang, and Ipoh. Garmin partnered with regional run communities such as Route Kuching Crew in Johor Bahru, Penang City Running Runners (PCRR) in Penang, and Bagi Run Club in Ipoh to foster a more connected nationwide community.

Sheena Sim, Garmin Malaysia Marketing Team Lead, underscored this commitment. “The spirit of Garmin Run has always been about unity through movement. Seeing runners from every corner of Malaysia, including those who have travelled from abroad, come together today, truly brings that to life,” she said.

The post-race celebration at the village kept the excitement alive with engaging sponsor activations, recovery zones, and wellness experiences.
