Cyclists to Take Over Kuala Lumpur Streets for OCBC Cycle KL 2024 This Sunday

Kuala Lumpur, 27 February 2024 – Over 2,700 cyclists, including children participating in the newly launched category, are gearing up to pedal through 21 kilometers of closed roads in the heart of Kuala Lumpur for OCBC Cycle KL 2024 happening this Sunday, March 3rd.

New Route Unveiled

The event route, unveiled today by KL Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief ACP Sarifudin Bin Mohd Salleh, promises a fresh experience with stretches through Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Leboh Ampang, and Jalan Munshi Abdullah. Participants will get to cycle past iconic landmarks like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Petronas Twin Towers, and the National Mosque.

Safe and Sustainable Event

Authorities are collaborating to ensure a smooth and safe event for all participants. ACP Sarifudin emphasized their commitment to making the ride enjoyable and praised the event’s contribution to promoting healthy lifestyles and sustainability.

OCBC’s Continued Support

OCBC, the title sponsor, reiterated its dedication to the event, highlighting its involvement since 2011.  Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik, CEO of OCBC Al-Amin, expressed his excitement to see participants, including his own colleagues, taking part. He also emphasized the event’s focus on sustainability, including reduced plastic usage and waste management initiatives.

En Nezzam Malek, CEO of Multigreen Events, the organizer behind OCBC Cycle KL and OCBC KL Car Free Morning, expressed his eagerness to witness the diverse range of participants, from children on push bikes to seasoned cyclists and teams competing in “The KL Mayor’s Ride.” He acknowledged the crucial support from various partners in making the event possible.

The event features prizes for individual winners in the 42km category, top teams in “The KL Mayor’s Ride,” and top finishers in the Kids’ Push Bike category. Apart from OCBC Bank and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, several other partners are supporting the event.
