Phuket, Thailand – The 19th edition of the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2025 Presented by Supersports successfully concluded, attracting over 7,000 runners from 71 countries to Thailand’s premier coastal race destination. Athletes of all ages and levels embraced the challenge across lush landscapes, scenic coastal roads, and enjoyed the warm hospitality of local supporters.

Local hero Apichai Phujit of Phuket successfully defended his Full Marathon title, finishing in 2:51:48. In the women’s Full Marathon, Japan’s Mayumi Watanabe claimed victory with a time of 3:27:05. Other notable winners included Kenya’s B. Mungai Kirogoi, who won the men’s Half Marathon in 1:18:30, and Japanese running icon Chiaki Morikawa, who took the women’s Half Marathon title in 1:23:46.




Celebrating its 19th year, the event adopted a “Run Sunset & Run Sunrise” theme, offering a unique two-day running experience on June 14-15, 2025. Saturday evening featured family-friendly events, including a 2km Kids Run, a 5km Fun Run, and a 10km Mini Marathon. Sunday morning saw serious contenders tackle the Half Marathon, Full Marathon, and Marathon Relay at dawn. The race also honored inspiring older runners, such as Anont Kullapattanasopon, 72, who completed the Full Marathon, and Bhasker Desai, 73, from India, who led his Half Marathon age group.




The course, weaving through Laguna Phuket and its surrounding communities, offered a picturesque journey through rubber plantations, serene beaches, local temples, and traditional village life. The event maintained international standards with excellent water stations, comprehensive medical support, robust security, and enthusiastic local crowds, reinforcing its reputation as one of Asia’s most breathtaking coastal marathons.
Beyond the race, participants and visitors enjoyed the world-class amenities of Laguna Phuket, Southeast Asia’s largest integrated beachfront resort. The expansive resort, spanning over 1,000 acres, boasts a collection of internationally acclaimed hotels, a championship golf course, award-winning spas, diverse global cuisines, and convenient Lagoon Shuttle services.
