The annual Garmin Run Asia Series is transitioning into a global initiative for its 2026 edition, rebranding as the Garmin Run Marathon Series. The event footprint is expanding to encompass 13 capital cities worldwide, including three new locations across the United States. Organizers aim to engage over 120,000 participants globally through a combination of localized physical races and virtual formats.
The Malaysian leg of the series is scheduled to take place on November 1, 2026, in front of the Mahkamah Syariah in Putrajaya. The event targets runners of varying experience levels, providing distinct categories and structured training support leading up to the race day.

Training Ecosystem and Technical Support
To assist participants with race preparation, the Garmin Run Club (GRC) is expanding its localized training sessions. Weekly community runs will be held every Tuesday at Sky Field and the TAR UMT Arena. Beginning in July and continuing through October, the training frequency will double to twice-weekly sessions to accommodate structured distance progression.

The 2026 event will also feature an expanded pacing team led by head coaches Akashah and Faiz. The organizing committee has confirmed an intentional increase in female pacer representation for this edition, aimed at fostering a more inclusive environment and supporting specific pacing strategies for female runners across both distance categories. For remote participants or those unable to attend the physical event in Putrajaya, the Garmin Asia Virtual Run 2026 will kick off from June 1 to August 2, 2026, allowing runners to log distances independently.
