Garmin Run Asia 2024 Unites 12,000 Malaysians in Health and Fitness Journey

Putrajaya – The Garmin Run Asia Series 2024 concluded with an impressive turnout of more than 12,000 Malaysians, gathering to celebrate fitness and well-being through the spirit of running. In its third year, Garmin Malaysia’s event embraced the theme “From Zero to Hero,” encouraging participants to push their limits and pursue an active lifestyle. Held in the scenic Putrajaya, the event offered three categories—5km, 10km, and 21km—making it accessible for participants of all fitness levels.

The excitement kicked off with a lively Zumba session that helped warm up the runners, setting a spirited tone for the event. The theme “From Zero to Hero” echoed throughout the race, with participants motivated to test their endurance and personal limits. The run has become a symbol of unity and perseverance, resonating with both fitness enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Garmin Malaysia’s Country Manager, Mr. Jimmy Chuang, expressed his gratitude for the continued support from the local community. “We are thrilled to celebrate yet another successful year in Malaysia with the Garmin Run Asia Series. It’s inspiring to witness the passion Malaysians have for health and fitness. Supporting each runner’s journey with Garmin technology is an honor, and we’re committed to providing more opportunities for the community to stay active,” he shared.

Among the participants was Malaysian celebrity and Garmin’s outdoor ambassador, Alif Satar, who joined the 10km run. His presence and encouragement fueled participants’ spirits, cheering on fellow runners as they embraced the “From Zero to Hero” journey. “Every year, I’m truly inspired by my fellow Malaysians’ dedication to healthier lifestyles. The Garmin Run Asia Series shows the strength of our community, where everyone comes together to support each other and break personal limits. It’s wonderful to see participants of all ages running side by side, symbolizing a healthier, united community,” Alif remarked.

Celebrating the Achievers

After an exhilarating run, the day ended with a prize presentation for the top five participants in the 10km and 21km categories, with prizes valued at over RM138,000. Additionally, participants enjoyed a lucky draw where they had the chance to win Garmin running series watches, aminoVital products, Oatside pocket packs, and exclusive merchandise. This year’s race marked a new level of excitement, bringing together a large community focused on health and camaraderie.

The winners for the 21km Men’s Open category were led by Kibet David, who completed the race with an impressive net time of 1:14:22, followed by Muhaizar Mohamad (1:15:41) and Ni Jia Yeow (1:16:46). The 21km Women’s Open category celebrated Noor Amelia Musa as the winner with a time of 1:29:08, with Linh Vu (1:30:25) and Lee Yee Shi (1:36:27) following closely behind.

For the 10km Men’s Open, Sanjay Manimaran claimed first place with a time of 33:41, showcasing impressive speed and endurance. The Women’s Open saw Nurul Juliana Shakira Abdul Halim finishing first with a time of 42:52, with Chooi Fern Loh and Tahira Najmunisaa securing the second and third positions, respectively.

Among the veterans, Suresh Munianday led the 21km Men’s Veteran category with a time of 1:20:35, while the 10km Men’s Veteran winner was Zuraiddi Jumai, who completed the run in 37:01. For the women’s veteran categories, Chia Yin Toh led the 21km with a finishing time of 1:42:24, while Hui Thin Sea claimed first in the 10km with a time of 46:03.
