Phuket Gears Up for 31st Laguna Phuket Triathlon, Welcoming Global Athletes to Asia’s Legendary Race

PHUKET, THAILAND – The legendary race is back. Laguna Phuket, Asia’s premier integrated destination, announced that it will host the 31st edition of the Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Renowned as the “Race of Legends” and the longest-running triathlon in Southeast Asia, the event is set to once again welcome over 1,000 athletes and 3,000 spectators from around the world, igniting Phuket’s high season with world-class sporting action.

This year’s staging reaffirms Phuket’s position as an active lifestyle destination, showcasing the island not only as a holiday haven but as a holistic hub for health, sports, and wellness. The event is a key driver of local economic impact and underscores Phuket’s global reputation as a world-class sports tourism hub, supported by strong partnerships with national organizations including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

An Iconic Course for All Levels

Celebrated for its unique course and exceptional standards, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon’s classic route challenges athletes with a 1.8 km swim in both the Andaman Sea and the freshwater lagoons of Laguna Phuket, a scenic 50 km bike ride through coastal roads, hills, and local villages, and a 12 km run around the lush resort complex.

To ensure the event is accessible to a wider range of athletes, it also features the Sprint Triathlon (0.5 km swim, 20 km bike, 6 km run) and the Duathlon (4 km run, 50 km bike, 12 km run). This year, new age categories have been introduced in the Sprint event to ensure inclusivity across all levels. A total prize purse of USD20,000 awaits top finishers, adding a competitive edge for the elite field.

Stellar Line-Up of Global and Regional Talent

The 2025 edition will see a stellar lineup of elite triathletes from across the globe. The confirmed male professionals include Antony Costes (France), Joel Wooldridge (Australia), and Guy Crawford (New Zealand). Among the women’s pro field are Kate Bevilaqua (Australia) and Dominika Jamnicky (Canada), making her first appearance at the event.

Adding a strong regional flavor is Thailand’s very own Kitpong Chawaldit, known for his endurance across four consecutive IRONMAN events. He expressed his excitement about returning to the course. “This course is not only challenging but breathtakingly beautiful, blending nature, culture, and camaraderie,” Kitpong shared. “Laguna Phuket Triathlon is more than just a race – it is a destination that celebrates strength, lifestyle, and global friendship.

Beyond the Race: An Inclusive Festival

A major pre-race highlight is the Open Water Swim presented by TriHub, now in its second edition, taking place on Saturday, November 22. Staged on the pristine beach of Laguna Phuket, the event invites both professional and amateur swimmers to test themselves across multiple distances.
