Desaru, May 19, 2024: The Desaru Coast Multisport Festival (DCMF) concluded a successful weekend, reaching new heights by hosting the prestigious IRONMAN 70.3 Asia TriClub Championship. Over three action-packed days, the festival welcomed back its staple events, attracting over 1,250 participants from 49 countries.

TriClub Champions Crowned
The IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast, the marquee event, gained even greater recognition as the 2024 Asia TriClub Championship. RC Coaching and Team7 Endurance emerged victorious in the Malaysian and International TriClub categories, respectively.


Individual Champions Shine
China’s Cao Junyu secured his first IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast Overall Fastest Male Finisher title, while Singapore’s Choo Ling Er successfully defended her crown as the Overall Fastest Female Finisher. Notably, Shahrom Abdullah and Serena Yang, Malaysia’s fastest male and female finishers, made impressive comebacks after missing last year’s race.


Fringe Events Offer Diverse Challenges
The Sprint Triathlon and 5150 Triathlon provided valuable experiences for both triathlon newcomers and seasoned athletes. Chris Wheeler (GBR) and Joana Moreira (PRT) dominated the 5150 races, while Yap Qi Yi (MAS) and Michaella Concetta Alexandra Widjaya (AUS) triumphed in the Sprint Triathlon.

IRONKIDS Showcases Future Stars
Over 100 children participated in IRONKIDS, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm for triathlon under professional supervision. Their determination hints at a promising future generation of triathletes.

CG Lim, IRONMAN Asia Regional Director, highlighted the positive feedback from participants and the event’s contribution to Desaru Coast’s growth. Khairul Ariffin Ibrahim, Desaru Coast Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the festival’s commitment to promoting Desaru Coast and Johor as a premier sports tourism destination.
