Malaysia – Garmin Malaysia announced the launch of the Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition, its latest series of rugged tactical smartwatches, now featuring a vibrant AMOLED display or a solar-powered display for extended battery life. Engineered for any mission, the Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition boasts a metal-reinforced bezel for exceptional durability, a dedicated rucking activity profile for training, and a built-in LED flashlight on both the 45mm and 50mm models for low-light situations. With remarkable battery performance, staying prepared for longer is effortless; the AMOLED model achieves up to 24 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on a single charge, while the solar charging models can achieve unlimited battery life¹.

Constructed with bolted elements, a metal-reinforced bezel, a fiber-reinforced polymer case, and a scratch-resistant display, the Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition sets a new benchmark for robustness. The lineup is also built to MIL-STD 810 for thermal and shock resistance and is water-rated up to 100 meters. The integrated flashlight offers adjustable intensities, a green light option to preserve natural night vision, and a strobe mode for location signaling in challenging environments. For nighttime operations, the Night Vision Goggle (NVG) mode dims the display to levels suitable for users with night optic devices while remaining nearly invisible to others.

In sensitive locations, Stealth Mode allows users to disable wireless communications while still collecting distance traveled and biometric data without recording location information. This feature enables watch usage and data upload while concealing the user’s location, typically visible through popular mobile training apps. In critical situations, the Kill Switch feature wipes all user memory from the device. In the field, TracBack routing helps users navigate back to their starting point and provides reference points of known locations relative to their current position. In addition to built-in sports apps for outdoor adventures, the Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition is equipped with apps for activities like HIIT, cardio, indoor and outdoor track running, basketball, and more.
Users can prepare for their next race, train for a fitness milestone, or improve overall fitness with Garmin Coach adaptive and prebuilt training plans for running and cycling. View an entire week of daily suggested workouts that adapt after each run or ride, or create step-by-step workouts from over 1,600 exercises in the Garmin Connect app and send them directly to the watch. Track intensity minutes, VO2 max, and recovery time to receive guidance on recommended recovery periods to minimize fatigue and burnout.

Safety and tracking features include incident detection (during select outdoor activities) and Assistance, which can send a message with the user’s GPS location (if available) to emergency contacts when paired with a smartphone⁴.
The Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition will be available for purchase starting May 16th, 2025 on the Garmin e-store, Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores, and all authorized retailers. The Instinct 3 – Tactical Edition AMOLED model has a suggested retail price of RM2,979, while the solar charging models start at RM2,479.
