Pinarello Unveils New Bolide F TT Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

Pinarello has unveiled their latest time trial weapon, the Bolide F TT, which they hope will propel INEOS Grenadiers riders to victory at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This revolutionary bike boasts a unique colorway blending Luxter Red Gold and Luxter Blue, with each rider’s nationality displayed on the seat tube. The design incorporates many of the same technologies used in the updated Bolide F HR models used by the Italian track team.

Groundbreaking Aerodynamics

The Bolide F TT achieves a significant 2.28% reduction in CdA (coefficient of aerodynamic drag) compared to its predecessor. This is achieved through several key features:

  • AirStream Technology: Developed with the University of Adelaide and NablaFlow, this technology incorporates a unique pattern of AeroNodes inspired by humpback whale flippers. These AeroNodes reduce complex airflow generated by leg movements, improving overall efficiency.
  • Optimized Airfoils: The bottom bracket and wheel hubs feature longer and slimmer profiles to minimize frontal area. This innovation capitalizes on the UCI’s removal of the 3:1 rule, allowing for more aerodynamic shapes.
  • Enhanced Stiffness and Clearance: The reinforced chain stay and bottom bracket allow for increased tire clearance (from 28mm to 32mm) without sacrificing responsiveness.

Precision Engineering for Speed

Pinarello’s research indicates that narrow forks and seat stays offer the lowest weight and fastest overall results compared to the recent trend of wider designs. Additional features include:

  • Fork Flap Chip Support: Similar to the new DOGMA F, the Bolide F TT fork allows for additional aerodynamic gains with a fork flap chip.
  • CFD-Optimized Handlebar Geometry: Extensive testing with NablaFlow’s software minimized total drag for both rider and bike.
  • Improved Bottle Cage Integration: CFD studies resulted in a simpler, more reliable, and aerodynamic solution for bottle cage and bottle positioning.

Building on a Legacy

The Bolide F TT maintains the same geometries and dimensions as the current model and comes in four UCI-approved sizes.

Pinarello President Fausto Pinarello expressed his pride in the new bike: “There is no greater stage than the Olympics to launch a new bike and we are immensely proud of the new Bolide F TT. It is a bike that continues to push the boundaries of athletic performance and will ensure our riders have the very best chance of success in Paris.
